2004 Captiva 232 raw water impeller servicing

The raw water impeller on my 2004 Captiva 232 hasn't been changed in about 3 or 4 years. It's a Bravo 3 outdrive so the pump is mounted on the front of the engine on the starboard side. it's basically impossible to even see the pump let alone touch it or work on it. It seems that the only way to get to it is to remove the back bench seat of the boat which appears to also involve pulling up the floor section over the fuel tank.
Is this really the way to service this pump with a new impeller or am I missing something? Has anyone done this? How did it go? How long did it take?

It’s not too bad. A 90 min job your first couple times. There are other threads on here that go over it nicely if you want to search. I strongly recommend leaving the hoses attached. You need a short stubby 10mm wrench. Good post on this:

I had my pump off in under a half hour the other day. Once you have all of your tools together and know how it comes off it’s very easy.

I can change mine on my 232 without too much trouble. I use a combination of standing on my head and crawling into the space next to the engine to get to it. No need to remove the seat, but the seat isn’t too hard to get out either, and you don’t have to remove the floor.
