I have seen a couple people use those portable air conditioners on their 270.

The drain hose goes to the galley sink and the air hose goes out to the port side window

with a "custom" seal.  Seemed to work out for them

I had given that some thought but man, they take up a lot of room.

If you own a boat you are well off so don’t cry about a $1300 AC unit. 🤓
This boat is taking me from 'well off' to 'boat poor' really quickly.. at some point it's going to be time to say goodbye. Hopefully I'll be smart enough to make that happen before I'm pay check to paycheck...

that's the plan for Sunday... supposed to be rainy and nasty out, that'll be when the swap happens.

Well, it's in..and it works. The wiring was super easy... now comes the tough part... fitting it all in there and screwing it down... this new one is 3 inches wider than the old and they moved the drain hose fitting location about 2 inches, which means my hose is 2 inches short and it's as tight as it gets...so I suppose the easiest thing to do would be to extend it...will probably go that route since it's just for the drain pan, not like it's a critical system that'll sink the boat...

It definitely is ICE cold compared to the old one and the volume of air on High feels to be about twice the air...it's much quieter on low as well. The only one had an annoying compressor hum, this one does not.

@J3ff, what brand/model did you get? Have you thought about rerouting the drain line to the shower sump? I have been considering doing that myself.

Ordered this one, from this site.. https://www.coastalclimatecontrol.com/index.php/air-conditioning/marinaire-compact-air-conditioning.html#!/MarinAire-6k-Btu-marine-air-conditioning/p/95699300

Actually the reason why the hose is too short is because I did change it from the bilge into the shower sump years ago and it was JUST long enough to reuse it from going into the bilge. Will go figure this out today... can't wait to have Ice Cold air conditioning back!

I see you didn't go with the Dometic one. I take it this one is quieter than the old Dometic/Marine Airrrr. How often does your sump pump run? We use our shower, so the pump gets soap scum in it and it needs cleaned once a season. I wonder if the water from the AC unit would help elevate some of the soap scum in the sump.

This one does say Marine air on it.  as far as the compressor noise it is a tiny bit quieter but I wouldn't call it a huge difference. As I mentioned on the old one there was an annoying hum present at all times which this one does not have so that's nice. While poking around trying to find a place to mount the control I realized that even on boats that did not have digital controls rinker pre drilled the hole so thank you rinker for that!

After 10 minutes here are the temperature differences.

83 at the inlet and 73 at the outlet. Working great and feels nice and cold!

The main thing that's nice about this is now instead of just Cool, or just fan... it now has Cool/heat/humidity mode... 3 fan speeds instead of just 1...and the best is that you actually can control this with wifi if you buy one of these https://www.amazon.com/Cielo-Breez-Conditioner-Controller-Thermometer/dp/B07MBP8RZM (of course you'd have to have a strong wifi signal somewhere near by).   1500 was a bit hard to chomp on here for such a guilty pleasure, but it was a good upgrade so well worth it!

Glad to see that it is working better for you. There are two totally different companies. One is Marine Airrr, which is now owned by Dometic. The one you got is MarineAire. I like the control that yours has verses the one by Dometic. It looks like yours gives more information other than just the temperature. Keep us posted as to how it works.

Interesting... yeah I like this screen better too, humidity is on the right and it has an auto mode where it will turn the fan up/down/off to maintain temp..

one cool thing about the Celo Breeze controller is that you can set it so it'll turn the AC on when you get within a set distance of the boat... say 5 or 10 miles... pretty neat!!

I wonder if the older units that have all those modes can work off that newer control panel. I hate having to look in the manual to remember how to access all the modes.

Nice looking display.  So far mine does the job but  when it does I will look at that.
