Can we all agree last nights debate was a low point in American history?

Feels deflating to watch the "best the country has to offer" bickering like children. One guy telling white supremacists to "stand ready" and the other guy can't get a word in edgewise, clearly showing he is a bit gone upstairs. There's got to be a third choice from here on out!

The proud boys gained traction locally after antifa threatened they were coming for the suburbs. When police backed down and let cities burn I think fear swept across America. These mostly peaceful protests didnt look inviting on t.v.
We just need to appreciate the fact that our boats can't get burned by all of these wildfires. And protesters can't get into the Marinas.

I find i dont totally agree or disagree with most groups outside of the radicals. I think the presidential debate reflected the current state of our county perfectly.
I think the BLM have some very valid points and i think antifa undermines their movement.
Most of my family wasnt in this county until @ww1. I don't have the southern heritage that many of my friends, coworkers and customers all share.
That being said i understand why the blm wants monuments removed but those with roots going back to pre civil war in also understand why some want them preserved.
It's well documented that ancient Egypt was built on slave labor. I'm sure much of the ancient ruins that remain today we're as well and we regard them as world treasurers. From Europe to central and South America to Asia these wonders of the world were built on the backs of the conquered, the meek, those purchased/traded and otherwise enslaved. Should those monuments be bulldozed too?
I personally think its best to keep history around, learn from it, try not to make the same mistakes again. I don't think burying the past is good for nor fair to future generations.
I want to point out to all potential football recruits considering the University of South Carolina and Clemson. University of South Carolina admitted its first African American student in the 1860s or 1870s. There were protests and i think 3 professors quit over it.
Not many years after that Clemson University was built on land given to them my the slave owning Calhoun family. It was an all white military college, private i believe. Slaves were used to help build the University. Not a new concept in the 1800s.
It was the 1960s or 1970s before the first African American student attended Clemson.
If we are going erase southern heritage, there is a LOT to be erased.
