Trim Tab Switch - Repair or Replace?

My Trim Tab switch on the Throttle controls seems to be slowly dying. up always works and the down procedure is press the button once, twice, maybe three times and hold your tongue just right and it catches.

I assume the switch is failing or the wiring or contacts is corroding and preventing a solid connection... regarless, has anyone changed one of these out? Doesn't seem like the switch was meant to be worked on, so does a guy just rewire it to a new toggle switch?

The trim pump has two solenoids for up and down.  You probably have a failing solenoid.  You could swap them and see if the problem moves.  If so, replace ... about $25 each.  Easy fix.

Update: After more investigation, I found that the Trim Pump Bracket was so rusted that the grounding connection for trim solenoids were flakey. I replaced the bracket and solenoids for good measure and things work great again.

Good result.  Thanks for posting the update.

On my 2003 342, the brackets rusted like crazy.  On my 2007 370, not at all.  Not sure why.
