Winter storage

Looking at options this winter to store my boat.  Anyone in the Lake St. Clair verify options and prices ?  It's a 24 ft Rinker Captiva.

1) Store at my marina (Safe Harbor at Jefferson Beach).  Outside = $589.  Inside Cold = $1088.  Inside Heated (Not even thinking about too expensive).

What is the going rate for a company shrink wrapping a boat my size ?  I only ask because if it is close to the delta cost between outdoors and indoors ($500) then I would store inside without shrink wrap.

Does anyone else in the Lake St. Clair area store their boat anywhere else with better prices for either indoor or outdoor storage ?  I have a trailer so that's not an issue moving it.

Inside.  No question, pay the extra $500.  Shrink wrap will cost that much, and it's a wasteful pain in the stern.

I used to pay 1900 a winter up north, including shrinkwrap. Now I pay 645 a month in the keys. Boating is dam expensive!!

The slips in Charleston are dropping in price.  Im waiting for the ones in the middle keys to do the same.  

I've seen a few in the 110's but only allow a 50% yearly live aboard.  Fine for now but once my kid graduates I don't want to see winter again. I can go to Miami to play hockey.

Indoor cold.  I pay 1500 for my 270.  I have access to it all winter.

I pay $2k for indoor cold for my 39’. Indoor cold is half the price is heated. I plan to use the difference this year to have a high quality boat detailer compound and wax the entire exterior.

I paid $240 to have my 276 cuddy shrink wrapped last fall, used a guy in the New Baltimore area.

I'd say spring for the inside cold and do the winterization yourself, if you're comfortable with it.

Fresh water tank was pulled before I bought it.  What do you guys usually do for winterization ?

Freshwater systems?  2 ways.

1.  Fill freshwater tank with antifreeze and allow it to pump through all faucets until you see pink.

Or - my preferred

2.  Install a bypass on the freshwater tank and run a hose into a bottle of AF and pump through system.  Keeps AF out of tank this way.

I store my boat in my pole barn which is not heated. One lesson I have learned is don't fill with too much fuel. The first year, I put it away after topping the fuel off on a 50ish degree day and in the spring, on the first 70 degree day I had several gallons of gas on my barn floor from the fuel expanding.

Interesting that you charge per foot and not per square foot.

$22 a foot is excellent, I am $46 this year, up from $42 although that has been the rate for the past 5 years.

22/foot for winter would be nice, I pay 23/foot PER MONTH (7K+ per year) to keep it at the dock.

I drain my fresh water tank as low as I can get it then connect the pump directly to my Campco jug and turn the pump on then go to each faucet and turn them on one at a time until I see pink out of each one
