Last year our fuel economy sank. I have 2006 FV250 with Volvo-Penta 5.0Gxi 270hp with Duoprop stern drive.
I have statistics from many years, and our normal consumption is 1,8-2,0 liters / Nautical mile. Last year this rouse over 25% to 2,5l./NM.

I checked everything, but didn't find any clues, what would be wrong.

Until i opened the cap of the distributor. All made sense. On the old distributor all the contacts were oxidized as well as the rotator. This resulted a poor spark and bad burning process. And when the engine tried to get the power I demanded, only thing it could do, is to inject more fuel.

After the change fuel economy went back to original,

Tip foe everyone, check your distributor. It should be changed every now and then.

Btw, I have F2 series props. Do you think they are too mild? I'm considering to change them to F4-series, because my WOT is around 5300rpm.
