Bow thruster

Many know me, long time boater, love the Rinker brand. So, we decided that our 2008 280 is the one we are sticking to for a long time to come. Great boat, no head aches except for the standard stuff. Just got a quote from Bay Marine (Trento) for a bow thruster , 5kw all done, 8,000$ ,to me it sounds okay, any news on these guys? Any input would be great, thanks guys!

We just had a bow thruster installed last week on our 300 express 2007 by Florida bow thruster we trailer the boat to Alexandria bay N.Y. And the did a really professional job took two installers a day and half to do the job. We love it make things a lot easier at docking in wind and current. The price was lower that you quote and no taxes.

Looks like I am going to bite the bullet and do the bow thruster. I'll take photos as it happens and keep everyone informed.

Before  I gave the A-Okay, I contacted Randy because of the fact that they (Rinker) did not offer the bow thruster as an option on my boat. He said it will not fit where it has to go to function properly. What a bummer. I don't want the external one.

Not a problem to find a great installer, the problem is the place needed to put the unit inside.......

If I had Axius, I would not need a bow thruster.

look at an bow thruster installation on a Rinker 27' by EastCoast bow thruster.

I also feel that there is not enough room for the bow motor up-front

The motor can be installed horizontally  or at any angle from 90 degrees. Have a look at some installations on the eastcoast bow thruster website.

I wonder where they put the battery.  I hope not in the cabin.

Mine used the engines batteries in engine bay, they ran some 4/0 wires less than 10% lost to the bow thruster.

Mike, they do put them in the cabin under the v-berth in normal Rinker install using an AGM sealed battery.

That is how they installed mine. I own a 320 and the AGM sealed battery is under the v berth with its own charger.

I tell you guys what, when the final decision is made if it can or can't,(my guy believes that there shall be no issue), I will take a dozen photos. Promise.

Concerning thrusters anybody uses or know "JET THRUSTERS" I need info since I am looking to install on a 2006 270.  Thanks

I sent some photos of the inside cabin, the front cushion removed to show the spot that will be used for the thruster, I believe what Randy said that it is too far forward to be able to be installed properly. The installer is looking at them now.
