I don't think there's any difference. I use Stabil in florida (on my car that sits for long periods while we are away). I use Startron on my boat, only because that's what my marina gas pump sells. I don't think I'd have a problem putting Stabil in my boat's gas tank. Maybe others have more specific experience?
The Stabil is "supposed" to have lubricants in it and the Startron is "supposed" to be more of an gasoline anti-water combo stabilizer. BTW - DON'T just add them and leave them there.....add them then RUN your engine(s) AND generator until at operating temperature to run the products through the entire fuel system. BTW I added them before we did my oil change and got two birds with one stone - ran the Sta-Bil and Startron through, heated-up the engines then pulled the oil and filters and put new filters (Mercury not "Spam") and synthetic oil.
