2006 270 fv. Fresh water leaking.

The boat is currently laid ashore and while we were polishing today, suddenly water gushed out from the mid bilge outlet starboard side. Despite checking all the taps shower etc. no leaks were found.  I cannot find where the mid bilge pump is hiding.   The water is coming from the water tank, the electric pump struggles to stop running when the switch is turned on. My question is where is the inspection hatch, the carpet appears to be glued!   Has anyone had this problem?

Under the mattress in the aft cabin, there's a compartment door in the floor. Check there.

The compartment should be right behind the steps.

Unfortunately my leak is coming from my freshwater tank.  I topped up the tank and an hour later it was much lower. So far I still can't find the leak!!!

Sounds like it may have a crack.

Terry, you  said (The water is coming from the water tank, the electric pump struggles to stop running when the switch is turned on) if this is the case your tank is probably not leaking, but you probably have a leak somewhere after the pump itself or at the pump outlet (easiest). Look at all the fittings for all the taps water the head and kitchen those plastic connectors for the faucets are plastic and they could be leaking or any others plastic connectors some of them are well hidden.

It's not necessarily the tank. The pressure of the water in the tank (level) will easily work it's way through a leak in the piping.

Regrettably I can't get to the boat until the weekend to find out.  I did all the obvious checking all appeared dry, but I didn't know where the bilge pump was located.  The engine compartment is completely dry?  I've had a heater under the motor to prevent frost damage, so the tank should have been protected.  Thanks for all suggestions.  Terry

If the engine compartment is completely dry then the tank is not leaking, it has to be after the pump while under pressure.

Yes I agree Paul the trouble is the pipes are so difficult to find due to their inaccessibility but I'm determined to find the leak.

Sorry, but is your drain plug pulled? Water won't accumulate in the engine compartment if it can drain from the plug.
