The boat I bought is called "Wine down" not really a name for me, how did you all choose a name for yours? i dont have an Admiral (my wife passed away a year ago) so im stuck trying to come up with a name.
Sorry for your loss. When I bought my boat 3 years ago it didn't have a name. 3 years later it still doesn't! I know one day the perfect name will pop into my head (probably when it's time for a new one).
Here is a link to the proper procedures to use when renaming your boat. The good news is that since you are boating on the Ohio River it is my understanding that you can substitute Iron City (possible even IC Light if you must) for all references to champagne....
Some guidance is to relate it to something you love or love doing, with a pun on a marine term. It's nice to be able to tell a story when someone asks how you came up with your boat's name ...
My Dinghy's Dinghy is my boat name. I always wanted to use that and I finally have an unnamed boat to put it on. It makes sense since it's only a 24' sport cuddy

Sorry for your loss. There is a lot of creative was to come up with boat names. The name on my boat was a mistake but worked out great. My name is Ray my now ex-wife nickname was Bo and we have 3 kids. Just before I put that name on my Carver friends at the club (who did not know my ex nickname was Bo) started calling Raybo. When I had the decal made it was supposed to say "RAYBO"S III instead it says RAYBO III. So there you go perfect......LOL

"Glug Glug" cause it has a crazy story and has a couple different meanings! But as said be4 it will come to u Dont rush it! Let us know what u come up with.
We named out boat the "Salt Shaker." She is a salt water boat. But the real reason that prompted the name happened when we were in the shopping process. My admiral took a solo tour of a 320 on the lot and really liked it, except that the otherwise beautiful galley had no provision to hold the salt and pepper shakers. To which I said it is obvious, we need to go up a size. Fortunately the 342 had the required provisions. So that made the decision for the 342 and the decision for the name.
Radio callers will have to repeat your boat name 2-3 times, which is good reason to avoid long, complicated boat names. Also, pick something that doesn't rhyme with "mayday" or "pan pan".
Boat names where brought up on old site and My favorite (and I don't recall who had it or if was a saying) was 'tinker with my rinker'. I say that to my wife all the time when I'm headed out to boat to do what ever. She just laughs. Mine is 'right size II'. Came with the boat when I got it.
How about HOPE-LE$$ ? after all, now that you are a boat owner you'll certainly have less disposable income :-) i named my boat Seasonal Insanity - I bought it just as the great American ression began in March of 2008 and right before the cost of gas doubled. All my friends thought I was out of my mind buying a new boat!
I like New Hope. You've basically made the boat new and truly creating hope for your family thru boating. (your next one could be New Hope Too - instead of two)
Thank guys, it will work in so many ways, I gave the boat New Hope, its mine and my sons way of being hopeful about the future, and If I ever find a new Admiral she will be my new hope
