On a freeway....I'll take mileage and torque over speed all day long. My ford gasser got 17 mpg on a good day.
As far as boating, we just putt along to a spot and stay there.

I filled up at my 'special' place 2 weeks ago for $2.39 (89 Oct).  It is special because it is actually both a station for cars and a spot for boats.  Just a real pain to get into and all the local fisherman really stare cause you are on their turf.

$4.59 here last week, mid-grade, non-ethanol with ValveTech.  The BP refinery in IN had a 'maintenance issue' beflore Labor Day and jumped the price a full $1/gal over night at the marina and about $0.40/gal for the car.  Just BP messing with everyone.
