Ok I love this seat upgrade. Can't find original post with all the details. 4x4 aluminum stock 18 inches long correct? Then what kind of hardware? Pics of attachment to seat? Where did you get the aluminum? Thanks
your local metal shop, that sells steel, aluminum, ect. your correct on 4x4x18. I could not find any in my town, but did find 4x6 $20 each. have not done mine yet looks like all you need is 4 - 1/4 ss bolts, lock nuts and washers.

I bought my 18" long 4x4x1/4" aluminum off eBay(couldn't find any local scrap!) cost me approx $70 w/shipping. I used 5"X1/4" stainless bolts with nylon lock nuts and washers for hardware.
I don't have a bench in my 2001 270, just a captains chair on a fixed aluminum riser. I also find it too low while seated, and uncomfortable while standing as I have to squeeze between the raised bolster and the wheel.
I'm considering replacing the whole thing with an adjustable riser and a back and forth slider for the seat.
It’s way too close to stand in front of. Very frustrating.
After installing the 4x4’s the seat was able to slide back further(due to the angled seat back hitting the wet bar)... I think I drew it out somewhere in this post? Definitely gives more room behind the steering wheel.
I installed 4x4 aluminum on my bench seat, 3-4 months after I got the boat, what a difference, it made, as dig said it will go back further, your fat head is up higher, visibility is much better. I did not like that low seat at all.
****. This has been something that's annoyed me since day one. Thought I was done wrenching on this boat with stuff like this. However this idea looks great. Wonder if the parts needed could be 3d printed. PLA plastic is pretty tough. Could print some stuff out right here at home
Got me thinking too. I have the swivel style seat but find I spend most of my time either standing or perched on the bolster. Gonna investigate a new post, or aluminium round stock and add to it.
Maybe you could use a thin (1/4") piece of starboard cream color veneer over the exposed side to finish it off. 4" x 18 and maybe have your boats name routed into it by @diggin2day1.

I replaced mine last year as well on my 232. I put power adjustable (like office chair) on captions seat and manual adjust on passenger seat. If I did it again I would put manual on both because of price difference and lack of adjustment after finding proper height. Rinker used Garelick pedestal mounts. Go to Garelick.com to find what you want (model #) then shop around as there is a huge difference in prices.

Thoughts?
But seriously, I'm off to order aluminum. I might find some trim/vinyl to dress it up a little more.
