Ok take out the "" signs on the link and paste un browser
Yeah **** video cNt get it to load..but..ok one day everything was working fine and all the sudden the generator shut of and if I hit start it starts and stops but if u hold the start button in and leave it pressed it keeps on but goes Not generate if I let go it shuts off... now this is the fallowing things ives done
*Disconected fuel tube and hshoots fuel from pump
*un pluged the fuel presure switch... and doesnt turn on only cranks I plug it and starts and shuts off same crap
*un plug the oil presure sensor shoots oil like a mfk
*took out coolant sensor we get fountain of coolant
*we put the fuel pump thing direct to positive and negative and same symthioms
We chNged spark plugs at this point we just give up... we even took apart the on off button and wired it straight like hot wireibg a car and still same sympthoms we are race mechanics and this thing kicked out ****
    Coolant level is fine
Oil level is fine... and if we shut off the fuel feed from thetank to the generator the sysmthoms are the same.. starts and shuts off or it stays on if we hold it on start even if we unplug the fuel pump

I'll have to read my manual. I have a 5EKD and none of the guys I know who have them report any of the drama that the other models seem to exhibit. It starts first push, runs great. I do change the oil and filter and fuel filters each year. I don't know, works great for us? The tech says they like them, not to worry. If it was a super hot day and the engines had been run for awhile I might remove the Front cover for better air flow but that's about it. I'm sorry so many of you are having issues.

Michael as race car mechanics the only thing left to do is is replace the unit or take pistons out be have it completly taken apart even shootibg fuel ibto carb it just dies when we let off the button we have done everything to keep it on even jumped a fuel pump from an engine ibto the generator jumped all fuel fikters to make sure they are not dirty and still same thing all I can think of is replace the entire electrical box or unit.. or sensor even thou we jumped every sensor to ground because thats what they do once its bad they stop grounding and this thing shuts off then again we are not generator mechanics lol

Thee is an anti-diesel (sorry Handy!) solenoid on the carb that can go bad. Screws into the carb, single wire attached. If it sticks or fails it shuts off all fuel to the carb. Pull and clean it or just replace.

Black diamond...u mean the sensor that its like a needle... its a presure sensor we took that out... put finger in holes and mNually move needle...same symthoms but if we unplug it.. the generator only cranks without turning on and off it just cranks for ever
  • Black_DiamondBlack_Diamond Member Posts: 5,439 ✭✭✭✭✭
Looks like a needle but moves/spring loaded.

Small engines, like that Kaw, are very intolerant of ethanol in the gas. The carb will crap up easily.

I would still say a bad sensor. When you are holding it on you are bypassing the sensors, as soon as you let off the start the sensor kicks in. I had an old Kohler 7.5 that did the same thing. Eventually found it was a bad sensor, not an actual problem with the generator.

Rebuild or clean the carb...... I had the same problem....

Generator only has 218 hours and the boat it self now has 300 when I bought it the boat had 2000 and generator 60 the boat was stored away a LONGGGGG time when I bought it so its looks like its easier to change all 3 sensor but well get into the carb as well next weekend grlad we took it completly apart then.... when we unplug the fuel line it actualy does the very same thing so thats what has us troubled
  • rinker342crrinker342cr Member Posts: 39
Ok and here is a dumb questions  are the rebuild kits sold like the drive trim pistons rebuild things ?

I had an issue with the fuel pump electric connection, hard wired it. Also, leave the sound cover service panel off.

Well I have a specialist here who is testibg the electrical box and he says we have to pull the unit out of the boat... all I can inagibe is cut a hole on the side of the boat and re fiberglass it lol because he says shes not productiong AC sp she automatically shits off and there is no ground readibgs or anythibg

Your typing is hard to read 342. I could not understand it at all

The way the generator should be removed is to remove the engine nearest first.  But I can not imagine having to remove it for repairs unless you are going to put in new one.  I have a new one on my bucket list.  A Westerbeak (sp?)

My phone is full of oil and what not and this sites mobile site sucks sorry for the typing but the tech says he needs to go on the other side to keep testing but he says the gen is not generating so it automatically shits of as a protect...he says he by passed the control board to test so I dont know monday and tuesdY he will keep working on it but at this point im about to sink this mfkr
  • Black_DiamondBlack_Diamond Member Posts: 5,439 ✭✭✭✭✭
Aside from the plug/coil, there is really nothing on the opposite side of the gen from the control panel side.

Not generating ac: brushes checked?  Gen to eng connection?  Grounds?

There is some sort of plug on the other side but cannot get a tester into those wires unless you move the gen but tomorrow they start working on it to take it off the floor and move it back and but he did say it either cones out or take apart right in there  then what has me **** off is all the b.s I had to change and still nothing its more of a fustration then **** but mannnnn time to upgrade to rinker 400 I hear those are spacious
