342 toilet prime issues

When I put the boat in the water 2 weeks ago I could not get raw water to pump to the head to flush. Disconnected at thru hull and filter, no luck, ended up using a garden hose to force water and it finally primed and worked fine at the dock. Today we made our first run, 40 miles, 2 hours dock to dock. Toilet lost prime again and so I'll need to get out the garden hose again. Anyone else have this? Ideas on a fix? Thx

Could something be blocked in thru hull fitting?

Handy I'll check connections at the pump. The thru hull, filter and head connections are tight. Bella I had a ton of water coming in before today's ride. Has anyone ever had the pump go? I believe it is a "par max 4". Wondering if it's bad and can be rebuilt.

So I went over the system and found a crack in the strainer. Was excited to find the priming problem. Replaced it with new strainer, re primed, and after just a short idle to the gas dock it still lost prime. Connections are all good, I opened the shower shelf and checked the pump connections. So I tossed in the towel and ordered a new par max 4 pump rather than keep fusing with it. Probably the valves or diaphram are bad. Hopefully this is it, no clogs.....
