I put the 50 lbs or so of tools that I carry in the forward compartment under the V berth
Same here. Tools, power cords, spare fluids under the V-berth. Added 30 feet of chain. Before, I needed my trim tabs 3/4 of the way down just to cruise. Now I cruise with little or no tabs unless I have a lot of people aboard.
I didn't think load placement would affect a 9-ton boat, but it definitely did for me.
I may have to start using the forward berth storage with a few more items. We basically leave it empty cause it's a pain to get to and I don't like stuff way in the front where it can get bounced around a bit more. But, thinking about it, I do really weight the aft end a ton (probably literally).

Randy, it happened 3 years ago.
