I thought I would jump in here as this seems to be a hotbed for windlass info. I have a 2005 Captiva 280 Bow rider, it has a CB at the main power panel for a windlass, 70amp. Here are my questions:
1. Based on this thread should I expect to have 4ga red/black wires run from the main panel near the transom to the helm and 4ga run from the helm to the bow near the anchor locker?
2. If so based on the picture it looks like I will need a isolator and up/down switch at the helm and run switch wires only from the helm to the windlass to control the anchor up/down?
3. I am running down here in the bays and near shore of the Florida gulf coast, off of Panama City Beach I have a 14lb Delta anchor on a 15ft 1/4 ISO G4 chain spliced to a 3 strand 1/2inch rope (did the splice myself after watching some you tube videos, hope it holds) as it is a bow rider no overnight mooring or sleeping, bottom is mostly sand, some weeds, so the question is what pulling power windlass should I be looking for?
If I recal when I was looking at replacement the Lewmar site had some selector charts. I also called or emailed them and they were very helpful in answering questions and clarifying things.
