270 cockpit fridge DC power source.

For anyone who replaced cooler spot with a fridge in a 270 (or any other model). Where did you get your DC power from?

Fuse. You need 15 amp I think

@BellevilleMXZ will do, unfortunately fridge was back ordered should be here in 2 weeks. Going to run the wires while I wait

Fridge isn't here yet, but started to get a jump on things. Removed cooler insert, measured opening just to be sure, pulled wire from compartment to D.C. Panel. Will post more pics as I make progress. Opening is 21"x21" Fridge dimensions are 21"x18.5",so will just need filler strips on sides

I'm not sure if this will help you but Great Lakes Skipper has a few refrigerator trim kits that may fit the opening at this link...

Unfortunately I don't think those will work...but boatoutfitters.com will cut starboard any size you want. I'm going to order a 23x23 piece of 1/4" with a 1/8" router edge, $32 plus shipping.

I see that you are using wire gauge 12 would that be enough depending the distance(x2) from your panel. Had to replace factory wires on mine so it could start easier.

Good call, I looked up the manual I never thought the voltage would drop off that fast. Guess I need to order some 10awg, it's 5mm cross section. Here's some pics from the manual

Depending of the distance x2 you could need 8 Gauge

Always learning, on here, never knew DC required bigger wires.

It's only about a 6 foot run, so according to charts 10 should do it right? Or am I reading it wrong

Look at how many amps your new fridge draw at start up, and don't forget if your run is 6 feet for one wire you have two, positive and negative so you are looking at 12 feet.....
