@jme097 I hope it works out for you mounting in that engine room. But keep in mind, that HEAT will be a constant problem. Even if you aren't necessarily overheating the amps, they will be very hot, and that will 100% shorten the life span.
Yes I run dual marine Deka 1000 CC batteries on a perko isolator switch. I typically run with it on "all" while running down the lake cruising, then switch to battery 1 for normal use. Battery 2 is my "ace in the hole". There isn't a need for 3 batteries on my boat like you bigger boats have, I had a Chaparral that had 2 house batteries, and 1 cranking one like most of the cruisers on here run. I also installed some pretty extensive LED lights on my boat, and only time will tell how much of a draw they do on the batteries. I also carry a portable powerpack jumping system, for emergencies
Even though I don't have the heat you do in AZ, I understand the risks. But in the 280 I just don't have anywhere thats suitable without running power and ground wiring all the way to the front cabin which is not in the plans. I plan on putting 1 inch spacers in back of the amp to keep it off bulkhead so that should help as well and also plan on running the blowers more often. At this point its trial and error on my end haha
And Handy what's the catch? I do have a couple friends in Florida....
You have to be tied up to a 342 and listen to country music for 8 hours while I show your girl the nice air conditioned cabin and explain why she should not live in 8 mile. Lol
I have 10 JL Speakers and 1 JL sub throughout the boat. I run 2 600 watt JL amps with the Fusion AV750 Marine Head. I have tested the system at high levels for upwards of 6 hours at high levels with very little battery drain. I do have 3 large marine batteries as well though.
Oh I thought you meant you unhooked it and went with the wetsounds one. Are you a bass junky or are you like me in the way of liking tight clean bass? Just curious
I like clean and balanced. I have a 232, with 6 Wetsound 6.5"s in the boat, and with a single JL 10", it was very bright, because those Wetsounds are a bit overwhelming. I would have put another infinite baffle 10" in it, but I had a friend that had a sponsorship from a car audio shop, and I got the Wetsound 12" and a Wetsound 1000.1 to power it, for next to nothing. We built an enclosure to try it out, and it works well. He was involved in IASCA for a long time, and tuned the whole system for me. We are using the 10" for more of a driver than a sub. Sealed enclosures can still work well in a boat application, but it takes a lot of power. My music mostly consists of Texas Country, which isn't the same as crappy mainstream country, so I wouldn't call myself a bass junkie.
@69fastback I didn't mean it like that lol. I love myself some Texas country. Nothing better than the man George Strait and Merle Haggard sometimes! That's my biggest issue with all of this is the tuning. I strictly want my speakers to be my highs and the sub to drive the bass. I have a hard time tuning the amps and dialing them in to do that. What do you mean by the very bright and over whelming?
jme097 & JBam67 .....you guys are not for hire are you? I'm in Utica but my boat is in Harrison Twp....and the guys at Soundwaves want a stack of cash from me to put in transom speakers.
Transom speakers are no different on the install than any other place, besides being a PAIN to get to! It's still a hole, with 2 wires running to it in the end...
@Cableguy Greg that speaker is a 7.7 inch JL. I had to make up some backers because I originally had a 6x9 in that spot so I needed something to fill the space. Could easily get a 8 inch sub there possibly a 10 just have to move it up a bit
@craigswardmtb these past couple weeks have been crazy! Process of building a house/moving so I haven't been on much! I'll message you shortly.

By bright and overwhelming, I mean the highs are very loud and it needs more lows for it to all be balanced.
