I agree with the whole torque and less affected by weight, but efficiency between stern drives and those V-drives is huge. That is where the numbers go way down. I'll try to get in contact with a buddy that has a 410 here on the Chesapeake. I know I've asked him before about fuel numbers and he just shook his head.
Too bad you didn't use it more. Get a couple thousand miles per year and that savings would be pretty good! Have you kept in touch with the new owner? Just curious if they are getting good use out of it.
Dont get me wrong i dont want to argue maybe you confuse some number but you number can't be Cummins QSB5.9 24valve 425hp have a max RPM of 3085 control by a govenor so it can't RPM at 3600 even at no load. http://www.touron-nautica.com/descargas/CMD/curva/QSB5_9/425.pdf
.6 mpg the boat would be at 24 mph full throttle.... if the boat do as you say do 30 mph @ 40.2 gallon per hour we end up at .74 mpg at WOT. But no one run at full trottle sweet spot for QSB is 2200-2400 RPM MPG should be better
im doing sea trial Friday i should have some number the boat have smart craft soon
Handy, the 410 with the 425 hp cumins was a good package. It was just so expensive. We figured it would take 15 - 18 seasons to break even with putting an average of 100 hrs I did like the Cummins motors though Easy to change rev limiters never had an issue
I was just looking through the pictures, the floor looks like it’s in really great shape. But what is this(lower left,I circled it in red). Is it photoshopped or do they have some type of runner on it??
FYI there was one 410 built , delivered, and then the dealer removed the engines/ transmissions. Sealed up all the exhaust openings and intake openings. The owner built a custom wine cellar in the bilge area. A true dock queen.

Interesting, that's the first 410 I've seen with a hardtop.

Here it is zoomed, something looks odd about it.
