Are you guys saying the more rode you put out for your bow anchor the less you will sway in high winds?  I thought I had anchoring down til this past weekend. Had about 30-35 foot of rode out in about 4 ft of water and it was pretty gusty. Regardless I was all over the place

Last year at 4th of July in DC, I had to not-so-politely warn someone who was dropping anchor about 50 feet from our stationary raftup.  The depth was 20 feet, so even at only 4:1, he would have been swinging a radius of 100 feet plus 30 feet of boat.  It wasn't a pretty conversation.

Thats what gets me nervous is people that pull up that are less than 75 ft from you. Can obviously tell they don't have the slightest clue about anchoring. They'll pull out 15 feet of rope when its 5 feet of depth

@jme097, the amount of rode out has some effect, but having things like your isinglass up will make it act like a sail.  You can also use a prusik knot on your anchor line.  That will buffer it a bit and help as well tying off on your two forward cleats.  More importantly it will take the pressure off of your pulpit.

@Dream_Inn Would this be enough for my boat as a stern anchor? 270
