Love it Ras!! The boat parade of lights was in Annapolis Sat night during all that. Thought about going to watch, but the admiral was just feeling better from being sick the weekend before, so we sat at home with the fireplace burning!
I could enjoy it in the snow for sure!! I actually do, it's just up on stands, there's nothing like hanging on the boat during a blizzard at the boat yard!
Mine ended up being shrink wrapped on Friday, just in time for the snow Saturday, but if I could have I would def keep it in the water year round. Some marina manager told me you can't keep I/O's in the water all winter, dont know why.. didnt even bother to look it up.
I mean If you bubble the boat you can keep whatever you want in the water. ice will damage the glass and temp of the water would shorten the life of the drive rubbers i visited my boat yesterday to get fire extinguishers out and i didn’t enjoy it lol
If the sun is out and the boat is wrapped it gets quit hot in there. I have actually performed a couple of upgrades in the winter . Sucks when you have to leave and go back out in the cold . Sometimes the wife has asked if I was having an affair and I say, well kind of
I finally gave in. We're headed for 20° overnight tonight, so I'm glad the boat is winterized. She's safe, and it's 3-1/2 months where the drives will not be sitting in the water slowly dissolving from corrosion.
Well, I'm exaggerating to make a point. Corrosion and water absorption rise in proportion to how much time the boat spends in the water. To say it another way: By spending $1500 to winterize and store, I'm saving over $50 on reduced usage of my anodes!
@shawnmjr you know when they call for more than 2 inches of snow we normally just see flurries. What scares me is when they call for 1-2 inches because that's when we get a foot or more.
@Willhound I start watching for the ice fishers in our canal as soon as first crust of ice appears. It was about 15F last night and looks to be the same tonight. I won't be surprised to see fishing holes in the ice when I get home.
