@Willhound I start watching for the ice fishers in our canal as soon as first crust of ice appears. It was about 15F last night and looks to be the same tonight. I won't be surprised to see fishing holes in the ice when I get home.
-17 F this morning with wind. Lake not freezing yet but some of the canals will be skinned over. Always get the idiots that try and push the fishing season. Once we get at least a foot I might go out a few times. On the other hand, if the next time I fish is February in Florida, I'm ok with that.....
The Annapolis boat show in the snow was absolutely phenomenal! My favorite year thus far. Now I cant speak for the boaters, which was a lot fewer this year, but I was was having a blast.
Man that looks sweet...i lived in north Dakota out on a 700 acre wheat farms with nothing around it but more wheat farms...and a nuclear middle here and there...really looks beautiful Al....
Google Copenhagen, NY. Small town where I grew up in Northern NY. I now live 25 miles away from there and have less than a foot of snow at home. Last week Copenhagen had over 6', and have probably received close to another foot since.
The phenomenon known as Lake Effect; I'm sure you Michigan and other northeast boaters have heard of it. Narrow bands that receive snow of 2"-5"/hour.
Copenhagen is in the snowmobiler's mecca known as Tug Hill. Quite often different areas of the Tug are awarded most annual snowfall in the continental US.
It's all over for the year, finally gave in, 1 small ride yesterday, then got her all winterized, now I'm BUMMED for the next 3 months !!!! Come on Spring !!!
-24F here this morning, my wife is visiting relatives further north, currently -27F..... @J3ff 's pics in the other thread of the Key's have got me dreaming. Oh well, only 45 more days to our own trip to Tampa Bay and about 115 until spring launch.....for now, sitting in front of the fireplace with a coffee. At least my truck started this morning with no issues.
0 here in Pittsburgh this morning. Looking at the forecast all of next week the lows are single digits, including 0 on Thursday and 1 on Friday. Ughhhhhhh
Well, I gotta say, I'm in my favorite place in the winter she n it's cold outside. 18 degrees and dropping, 76 here in the family room, good college football on, 4th mixed drink...only is better on the boat! Only thing left under Xmas tree is my new items to add to the boat!
My log splitter I got two years ago has been well worth it! (geothermal unit has been great too)

Go Steelers!!!
Old Forge is the edge of the Adirondack Mountains.
But yes, the lake effect bands do reach that area frequently.
Go Steelers!!!
