SCORE!  I went to take apart my squirrely searchlight today and noticed a small Allen wrench hole. Found the right wrench, tightened it and BOOM. fixed!  Works perfectly.

I'm not joking when I say this:  The only useful thing my spotlight ever does is illuminate a dancer on the foredeck.  It's an important task, but I don't consider the spotlight to be part of my boat's navigation equipment.
With you on that, the only thing these spot lights do is blind me when other boaters use them!! Have been out on dark nights, just take it slow, keep your charts updated and keep your eyes open!  The best is when you see a complete newbie with their forward facing docking lights on... which look like headlights on a boat.. that's a clear sign to head away from them.

I have used mine a couple of times and was glad I had it - guess I could have done the same with a handheld but I like the remote better and more hands free..mine works great.
