Thank you, but I do have manuals. If rumours are correct, they should be great engines. At least here in Norway Yanmar has a very good reputation. Seller thought maybe the turbos needed replacement, but I will try to clean them first.
You should install an EGT and boost gauges. Yes, Yanmars are great. They are 10000 hour motors. Keeping the coolant side clean is the key. Flush the coolant system regularly. There are a few coolant additives out there for this. Cummins diesel makes a real good one. I was lucky that my marinas owner used to work for Yanmar. He is the one who found that my throttle cables were too short and told me that they should run wide open at 3600 rpm and not 3300 as the manual says. Keep me posted on your results.
@Handymans342. Thank you for your advice. I have to do some research on how to fin in EGT and boost sensors. Hint-hint... When on water I will clean both fresh- and saltwater side on cooling system. "System Cleaner" recommended by Yanmar. RPM was interesting. You have the same engines 4LHA-STZP?

I am not recommending them. In fact I have never actually seen one of these in the flesh. Just letting you know they are out there.
