Now the crappy one i thought i would try was https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073ZFF44N/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Do not get that. It looks like what you want but is horrible quality. As Al said. Google MATCO Pulley puller and you will find a kit for about $85. I like having the tools. So i will likely buy it. I normally work in a new tool with just about every project i take on.
@Alswagg - would you mind checking the model number on your Matco puller?
I got the Matco MST93 and the Powerbilt 648605 loaner from Advance Auto, but neither one fits. The pulley hub is 2.1" diameter, and the collars on the pullers are only about 1.6" diameter.
I think there might be two versions of the Hardin pump. One has the pulley attached to the shaft. The other has a pulley hub attached to the shaft, and the pulley is bolted to the hub. I have the hub version, and the Matco puller won't fit it.
The inner seal failed and leaked water into the bearings. I have a rebuild kit, but the hub has to come off first. Then I can remove the outer seal, and remove the shaft for the rebuild.
I now have three pumps: two on the boat, one in my shop for rebuild. All three have the same hub. The pulley attaches to the hub with four bolts. The pulley covers the hub completely.
I bought them all direct from Hardin, with the pulleys attached. Here's the photo on their web site. (They now deliver them with a black finish pulley.)
Yes, the black finish one is what I've seen (It's what Glenn has bought). I'll have to make a note on this, because the day I have to replace my other one with a Hardin (It's only 2 years old, so hopefully a while), I'll replace it without the pulley again so I have them both the same.
I've tried 2-jaw pullers, 3-jaw pullers, harmonic balancer pullers ... fail, fail and fail. If you pull on the edge of the hub, the hub bends, so it squeezes the shaft even tighter.
Gotta find something like the Matco, but big enough to fit around the top of the hub.
So, new problem. This type of puller has an adapter that screws into the center of the hub for reinstalling the hub. I need a 3/8" adapter, and nobody makes one smaller than 1/2".
My crumby harbor freight pulley puller is stuck/seized on a pulley where I cannot remove it. Looks like I'll be ordering a matco puller kit soon like I should have.
