Definitely beats -30s! Another great week while we were there! But! The 270 may be a titch small for living aboard. Can definitely see an upgrade in our future! And research is saying go diesel! What should we look for?
Guess we're hoping to do more touring. And we'd still prefer a trailerable boat, thinking just under forty and a twelve or under beam, from the way it looks beams under twelve increase fuel economy significantly when you control the throttle Monkey within. A month aboard would be our limit before we'd have to get back to reality.
Normally you have to stay around a 9 foot beam to trailer a boat without permits etc. We ran into some folks up in the Baie Fine last year in a 25 foot trawler (with outboard). They trailered up from Florida, dropped her in and puttered around the North Channel. We did it the hard way.
Trailering a 40-foot boat isn't practical unless your daily driver is a Kenworth. You're talking 10 tons of boat. Even a 32-footer is a lot for the open road.

Something like a 310 would work. Height is a concern while trailering also if you can’t fold the arch down. A guy from Indianapolis came to Lake Cumberland towing his Monterey 335 hard top on a custom low trailer with a dually. He still had to remove the radar and stuff on the hard top to trailer. I think it’s under 12 wide, closer to 11.
Fortunately I deal with Kenworths everyday . 12' and under do require permits. Don't believe we'd be pulling it across country, thinking it would stay in Florida 5 miles from the marina. Still in the planning stages. Sounds plausible in theory.

I'm not sure I'd be boating much if I had to put my boat in the water each time I wanted to use it. Besides the time spent putting it in, to me it's like another home. I get there, ice in ice maker already, both fridges are stocked and cold. Way too convenient not to have it that way!
Guess we're the do it yourself type, and I'm not one to let myself be at someone else's mercy or timeline. Prefer to do our own thing in our timeframe.
