@aero3113 you don't happen to still have the link to that Amazon listing on your confirmation e-mail or anything do you? Thinking of doing mine but I can't seem to find that deal anywhere.
I was checking there next! Thanks @aero3113 Mine aren't leaking, but pretty ratty looking so will change them....whenever we're allowed back to the boat.
@Handymans342 , it's been like that since I purchased the boat. Never been an issue, I've read that that theory is not 100% proven.
Okay, as a trailer/lake boater who doesn’t have to do bottom paint, what is the issue with the paint touching the drives?
Older bottom paint for salt water had a lot of copper in it and would cause corrosion. I think the newer paints have a different formula and isn’t as much of a concern. I never had any issues with my 242 and now my 330 is painted the same with no corrosion.
Ok replaced the trim cylinders then went to move them up and down and noticed one of the lines was leaking a bit at the connection so I tried to snug it up a bit and it just snapped guess it was old and brittle.(I probably should have replaced it when I did the steering pin 2 years ago ) so a job I thought would take about a hour turned out its going to be a little more involved .I couldn't remove the hoses from the trim connector so I removed them from the pump and brought them to the shop and got them off the parts will be in Friday so I hope I can get everything back together during the weekend
WoW, better to have it fail now then on the water. It shouldn’t be too hard of a job to replace. I think I remember @Handymans342 doing it a couple of years ago.
Now I’m wondering if the trim cylinders are good when I first connected them they seemed to be very sluggish going up maybe just air in the lines .Can anyone tell me if there’s a way to check them .
Maybe I only put one battery in the boat and it haven’t been plugged into the charger ,I’ll have parts in hopefully Friday and reinstall over the weekend
The trim connector came in but now Im thinking the trim cylinders I bought used during the winter and was just going to hang them and see how they work, but Ive since read that any dirt in the system can do some damage ,so I've decided to take them apart flush everything out and rebuild them
I watched a few videos on it I picked up a spanner wrench and broke the ends while the trims were still on the boat .....seems in the video that’s the hardest part I’ll bring them to work tomorrow and give it a shot
I got them apart and I also took apart the old ones looks like their is a spacer on the original ones to limit the drop of the drive I think Ill use it in the new ones also need to drill and tap the ends their is no holes to attach a zinc
@GMSLITHO , I’m not 100% sure if the spacer has to be there or not, do you know if it’s a part that’s installed from the factory? If removed do you think it would help with negative trim and give you a better hole shot?
