My brother in law has a inboard 330 sea ray express.
launched Few days ago  and boom starboard side engine lost prime after few minutes but port side ran just fine.
    two issues here:
when winterized strainers are drained and left empty.

    second one was old impellers.

we replaced the housing and impellers on both sides and she is all good now.

i always replaces my impellers every two seasons regardless of use or anything else. Always have one spare impeller onboard.

if  drained strainers are above waterline they need to be filled prior to first engine start.

I trailer my boat and never "prime" but there usually is some water in the strainer and system I suppose....

So I launched today. I was going to pull the top plugs on the water pump to prime but the mechanic on site said not to bother so I didn’t. Set her in the water and fired up. No water coming in strainers. Crap. He said to give it a quick rev on the throttle which I did, loads of water coming in. Great smooth run at normal temp to dock from there.
