Hello, my boat is getting moved next week. I was hoping to get a gps/chart plotter put on the boat while its out of the water to put on the transducer. Does anyone know a good size and a good that would fit nicely on the helm? I already need glasses to read so bigger is better but cheaper is the best. Looking for good quality at a reasonable price. This is for 2002 342 fiesta vee...thanks

    I ended up having my dash re-done.  The spot to the left for the factory installed GPS will hold a 5 inch model, but not much bigger.   In my new configuration I have vessel view and a Garmin 721 in the center along with the 2 big round gauges that have the gas tanks and the sync gauge.  I put the depth finder, trim gauges and fume detector in the spot where the GPS used to be.

    You might be able to improvise a semi-surface mount using a 7 inch GPS over the existing spot for the GPS.  Otherwise you have the space on the left below the GPS.  That area is large and would let you put a good size GPS there, but it forces you to look down to see it.

    Do you want it in dash or on a mount. You'll probably be able to get away with a bigger screen if you go with something like a RAM mount. I wouldn't go less than 8".

    If the max i could flush mount is 5 i would have to go with mount. I will go check out the ram mount now.

    that's a 7in on a 4in ram mount. I don't feel like it blocks my view at all and I don't have to move my head to see it.

    I like the big shifters much better than what comes on the one i am getting.

    I can tell you right now ... 5" is a waste of time.  Go with a RAM mount, like the one shown in the photo. I would never get anything less than 8" and I'd prefer 12".

    I’ve got a suction ram mount with my iPad, works awesome as my chartplotter and holds just fine in waves. I do have a raymarine color chartplotter but I look at the iPad more than the chartplotter.
