Waste cap

Hello everyone, I need a cap for the waste water for 2002 342 fv. Anyone know where to get one and the proper name if thats not it. The fresh water side is just a plastic cap you use a screw driver to tighten and loosen. Thanks for the help

Hey guys do you think the keyless ones would work good? They have the little thing in the middle that pops up.

I would not replace with the plastic ones that have the little thing that pops up. I had that on my last boat and it was always a struggle because I didn't want to over tighten and risk breaking the plastic pop-up using pliers to open it, but I didnt want to go too loose and risk water entry. I would stick with the format in the picture above without a doubt.

Here is the OEM deck fill plate. I had a waste cap that wouldn't unscrew, so I replaced it. Looking into it more, I found out that the threads were shot. I then replaced the deck plate. I wanted the chrome one, but Perko doesn't make them the same size. Go figure...

@Cableguy Greg hey man replacing the deck plate does it go inside the hose or do you have to connect it to the hose or pipe. Thanks

Should have a barbed end to go in the hose.

I bought the replacement cap on this thread and it is to small, so I thought I would try and replace the whole thing

I used the Perko plate which was a direct replacement. Not sure of the part number right now because I am in Florida. The plate and hose pulled out and the hose was connected with a hose clamp. I rebed the new one with 3M4000UV.

Bought last season. I purchased a nice metal one previously that I think 2nd or 3rd time taking off I dropped in the river. This is cheaper and lighter.

Most pump out stations have the adapters for various vessels and port sizes, some with extended tubes for those hard to reach. I keep saying I am going to buy my own but I forget.

Thread size is 1-1/2" NPS (1-1/2 inch straight pipe thread).
Neck fits 1-1/2 inch ID hose.

That's per the product I pointed you to so you can check yours that it's the same size. There is a smaller one I've seen, bought a cap form WM once that was smaller but labelled waste.

The OEM fill is 1269000CHR from Perko. That should be the same fit. I tried the one with the chrome cap, no luck... Different size.

I know this thread is a little old, but hoping someone on here can help. Like one of the other posters (@Cableguy Greg), I have a waste cap that won't unscrew and was planning to replace the deck plate. (This forum was hugely helpful in tracking down the right part). I have the part, but when I went to pull out the existing deck plate, I ran into some trouble. The hose won't pull out for me to replace, because the hose clamp is too large to fit through the hole in the fiberglass. Specifically, it looks like the screw part of the hose clamp is what is keeping it from getting through. Any ideas of how I can get the hose out, or get behind the panel to remove the hose clamp from the back/inside??? I definitely need to be able to have pump out capability! Thanks to all for the help.

One of those things that makes you go hmmm. So first thought would be to try and reach the deck plate/hose connection from inside. I'm guessing that's not easy.

My comment disappeared so apologies for the double post. I know this thread is a little old, but still hoping others can help. Like Greg, my waste cap is stuck and won't unscrew. I planned to replace the deck plate (this forum was hugely helpful in tracking down the right part), but ran into some trouble when I went to take it out. The hose won't pull out far enough to replace the part, because the hose clamp is getting stuck behind the hole in the fiberglass. It looks like it is the hose clamp screw that is catching. Any ideas for how to get the hose clamp off, or get behind the waste deck plate hole to get at it from the back??? Any help or ideas are very appreciated. I definitely need to be able to have pump out accessibility. Thanks all!

@natalee520 , try using some penetrating oil and get yourself one of these spanners. I had trouble with my cap also but with the leverage with the spanner, it really helped get it off. If you can’t get it off with just the spanner, you can slide a pipe over the handle for extra leverage.

Hey @natalee520 ! What's blocking you from reaching the hose clamp? Is there anything you can remove for better access? Maybe a stereo speaker? I can't remember where the waste cap is on your boat.

I had exactly the same issue when I wanted to change the hose from the tank to outlet. It’s way up there and I don’t have access to a child small enough to stuff up there. Apart from suggestions here of extensions I think it’s a lost cause without surgery (or aforementioned gremlin size body)

Use a nut driver with a bunch of extensions. When you put it back together you can probably grind a notch for the clamp to fit back in from the top.

I wonder if you could glue the tube to the waste outlet so then you only need to remove the lower hose clamp next time. Of course having to do it again is pretty slim.

I’m not even sure I can see the thing to put 4’ of extension on it - and that is if its pointing the right way. What I may do one day is pop it out as far as possible and use a dremel tool to carve out a slot for the clamp.

Stupid way it was done though.

You can also cut the hose and use a union/splice with two clamps if you have to.
