Battery panel

Hello All, I went down to my boat (2003 FV342) last weekend to check her out, it's been a while due to this never ending winter. I plan to rearrange/straighten out the battery area. 
While checking everything out I looked at the battery switch panel in the back of the cockpit below the outside shower. I guess I've never really paid much attention to it before and I'm trying to understand it.
The two large rotary knobs are labeled port and starboard engines. I'm assuming these just control the port and starboard START batteries and if you put the rotary knobs to emergency start the two start 
batteries combine. 
Then there is the helm power switch and the cabin panel power switch. I guess these do what they say. If I turn the helm switch off, I would not have power to the helm. So it looks like there is no way to switch off the house batteries unless that's what the switches are for.      
 Does this sound correct to you guys? 
Also is it correct to assume that there is nothing connected to the start batteries except the engines? I wish I had a wiring diagram to check.

    The house batteries are always 'on' even with the DC main off. On your starting batteries, they do/can be connected to other things: blowers, hatch actuator, marine radio, GPS...it can be random. can be rather random.

    Hello Black Diamond, I'm actually glad to hear that. When I was at the boat I disconnected one of the start batteries, as I did my cockpit lights went out and my cabin lights stayed lit. I thought maybe sometime in the past the positive from a house battery got switched with a start battery. I'm going to try to trace all the battery cables to make sure they are correct.

    Just know they are never totally off unless you pull the cables off. :)

    I sent an email to Randy Rinker regarding a wiring diagram for my boat. Later the same day I received a phone call from him saying that he had sent me the wiring diagram. That's how customer service is suppose to be, wish more companies were like that.

    It is unbelievably amazing to get customer service to that level. I never had that before with any company. It is going to make me take a look at the customer service in my company. Paul
