Wow all they make now are pontoons and deck boats. Why did they even buy the Rinker brand 2 years ago???
  • Cableguy GregCableguy Greg Member Posts: 5,077 ✭✭✭✭✭
They bought Highwater Marine, LLC, which included the Rinker brand. Wish they would have spun it off rather than close it.

The entire move of purchasing an Awesome company as Rinker with the result of shutting down a couple years later STINKS ! I understand  Covid-19 is playing a portion of responsibility here but its extremely possible to keep the plant open and still profit from a great product. I'm thinking Rinker brand name will get picked up by some manufacturer, it's a Well built reputable Brand with years of proven success, it would be foolish not to put the name to use in some form of watercraft

I would hope that one of the Rinker family "kids" would pick it up and put it back in the family....

Yes but then you would have all of us thinking together which could potentially not be amazing 😕 too many cooks.
We would all agree until it was time to decide between gas and diesel and then hard tops vs no hard top.
    No choice for me LOL

Be careful what you say on here. There are a lot of diesel haters on here.

Nah....we just like giving Handy a hard time..😎
Given a big enough boat and the right trawler type hull I'd go diesel all day long.

They have to keep us.  How many hundred times a year do we make a support call to Rinker unnecessary?   We are the cheapest crowd-sourced support they will ever get.

It isn't great to own a boat that is a now defunct brand. However the good news is that typically when things break on my boat they aren't made by Rinker but by their suppliers who hopefully stay in business!

One of my best friends just bought a used Rinker (25 foot deck boat 350 Mag Blll with Corsa Captain's Call side hull exhaust). He bought it because, in his words "I doesn't worry me that they are going out of business, they made great boats with strong hulls." That is pretty much what people say about Rinkers around here. Great boats. I believe their value will endure. BTW there were three couples looking at that boat. Compared to local Chaparrals and Regals they look like a bargain! Don't worry guys you have awesome boats and the general public knows it!

So, this is right out my window, taken a couple of days ago - THREE - Rinkers. Where I boat people LOVE their Rinkers. :-)

One of the oldest boat builders in the US. Hate to see them close. Owned (2) Rinker boats. Both brand new. They built an excellent vessel.

They made a serious market forecast boo-boo.  New Boat sales are thru the roof by me. Dealers stocked out.

I wonder if Polaris fired their marketing manager over this major gaff?

@Black_Diamond so true. The market went through the roof as soon as Rinker closed. Makes no sense.........

Lots of companies jumped the gun ... and shot themselves in the foot. I know it's good to act fast when you need to ... but geeze ... 1 week into COVID, people were cutting up their companies like we were heading directly into a long depression in the 2nd week.

    Boat Name: King Kong

Boy....you'd think Polaris would just fire everything back up again @ Rinker HQ.

We've probably hit peak pontoon & peak SeaDoo in the market. People will swing back to dayboats & cruisers at some point - especially if CV19 continues for a couple more years.
