I promised myself I wouldn’t do it, but I did it!.... Anyone know the correct part number?

Don’t you just hate that.  I’ve come close myself several times but just caught it before it went too far.  I’m sure someone will chime in with part number.  This happens so often.

I need the part that the latch goes into, the metal part, not the rubber!! Somehow that 'fell off' the boat as it was being shipped down??
  • Aqua_AuraAqua_Aura Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭✭✭
The Perko one I bought came with the metal part for it to go into.

i have broken what 3 of these things/ Right now, i stuck a metal latch off my shed that was about the same size...but you'd want the perko to brake before it busts something worse...

I have that part, but it's not the same as the one that came on the boat.. :( if you could point me to the one you bought that'd be awesome!

Ah yes now I remember. I think that piece did not fit my boat either but all I needed was the barrel latch. Sorry for my useless information.

Just looked into it. I think the latch comes with a different style receiver than the hole on the transom door. Not sure what term to use to search for that piece.

    Maybe this would work

Grrr. I just did the same dam thing this morning after reading these posts and thinking “I don’t need a sticker." Added complication... hinges are bent on door. started to remove one screw but it felt like there is a backing. Won’t come out. Won’t tighten back up. Tips?

@benvenuttioki there are nut and washers behind. You have to get at them from the engine room. I had to remove my hinges when I first got the boat to bend the hinges back.

Thanks. I’m still steaming from the whole thing. Not thinking.

Remove the battery switch compartment. Easier that way.

I did the same thing on my 342, i got to the back of the hinges by removing the vent out/air in cover and was able to get to the nut/washer.
Those stupid little hinges are expensive!

I've done  this 3 times over 12 years now... Grrr.. I ordered the Perko Barrel bolt from Amazon.  It came with 2 different end receivers.

    Perko 0947DP3CHR 5-Inch BARREL BOLT 5-1/4" X 1-7/16"

That's close, need the metal part the rubber part goes into!
  • Aqua_AuraAqua_Aura Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭✭✭
That's the same latch I bought and that rubber piece was useless to me. I did find an old thread that had this as a part number that would fit for the rubber grommet.

I haven't actually bought one yet and tested it but it should atleast lead people to right direction to end the click, clank, clunck of the door moving around. I would think it is probably the same size and will work.

Yess! A picture... but where to get that metal part around the rubber!

I searched for awhile and never did come across the metal piece. Of all the things to be missing that's about the last one I would think to be broken or lost. Leave it to Jeff though to need that piece. 😋

Not sure where to get that piece but I'd find a stainless steel washer about that size and a drill press.

I couldn't understand it... it was the only thing that "blew off the boat" on the way down to FL

It might be a Rinker specific part. Try reaching out to them for it.

The rubber piece works perfectly! bought it last year at Orielly's auto parts for a couple bucks

Ordered, received and installed. Definitely a tighter fit for the latch than the old insert. I like it because my 3 year old can’t open it!

Now if we can just find Jeff his metal piece around the insert. 😁
