I use several different sources including the Weather Network, Accuweather and Windfinder and also NOAA marine forecasts and then make an educated guess.  Have abandoned a planned anchorage on more than one occasion. Also, download an app like Anchor Set. You'll sleep better at night.

We use the weather channel ap and Wunderground to watch wind forecasts and make our decisions based on that. Now that we have a larger boat and thruster though I pay less attention than I used to. Greg picked the right time to come here, flat lake and no wind almost the entire week

I usually watch the winds but the forecast isn’t always 100 % correct. Sunday tested my limits. We left the dock with 10-12 knots. Coming back in we were 15-18 with 20-25 gusts. I lined her up, played the throttles and slipped right in. Twins are your best friend if you know how to position the levers in wind. Of course I had an audience, felt good when I stepped off.
