New Canvas and Installing Snaps

I got my new front windscreen canvas today but I forgot that I will need to install the snaps on the canvas. Looking for some info for which tool to use as I know some of you on here have had to do this before. There is a few different styles on Amazon I am sure they do the same thing.

I did find this video which is helpful. Not rocket science just never looked into it before

I ordered from PM Winter Covers and it took 3 weeks to get here, if anyone is wondering.

    @Aqua_Aura I bought a kit like this, I actually used it today to add some snaps to my cockpit cover. I was surprised at how well they worked. You’ll also need a pair of hole punch pliers to punch the holes.

    Compound-action pliers (vise-grips, like like @aero3113 posted) are definitely best.  The one I have is like regular pliers, but heavy-duty.  It's okay, but it relies on Superman grip strength, which I'm starting to lose because of old injuries.

    @larea there was a pair of them on the boat when I bought it. Bent them out of shape by the third snap. The vice grip one’s work great.

    Thanks. I will look into all of those, I only have maybe 10-12 snaps to do.

    Agreed with @davidbrooks - I spent the extra for this tool after trying the junk home made channellock pliers. The proper tool is brilliant.

    For $150 if this is all I do with it I may pay the canvas shop to do it. I'm sure something else will come up in the future and probably need it though b

    I use mine every year. Always breaking off snaps.

    I ordered the Sailrite tool. Very long story but all the stuff on Amazon doesn't meet my requirements. 

    I'll post some pictures when I get the tool and use it just in case it should come up in the future for others.
