Is the boat sitting very unlevel?  That's the only way I can imagine there would ne fuel in one side of a single baffled fuel tank and not the other.

I had a 60 gallon tank that would only hold 40 on the trailer as she sat bow up.

Was talking to a friend on the dock this weekend and he mentioned that he had the same issue which he just resolved. His issue was that the fill hose leading from the fill to the tank was ran very poorly and went up and down like a horizontal P trap which created a lot of resistance. Once it was ran in a more straight direction, no more fill issues. So make sure your fill hose is pretty direct to the tank.

Is this due to a fuel shortage issue?

Or does it keep bubbling and over filling?

If the second one is the issue you have a breather house issue, needs to be a gradual slope from tank to breather, any dips can hold fuel and cause vent issues.  Also bugs or corrosion can block the vent screens where it exits the hull.

A full tank in the winter will swell to an over flowed tank when it warms up.  Any dips in the hose can catch that excess fuel.

I RAN OUT OF GAS WHEN I TRY TO FILL IT UP IT WOULD ONLY TAKE 30 GALLONS  THE TAKE IS 75 GOLLANS I THINK

full, and when it reads 1/2 tank it drops of real fast   you can see gas if you open a access hole in the middle of the boat. but none at the back.. when it was empty i could only put 30 gallons in  i drove around town stop back gas station  and i was able to get 7 more gallons in  if you squeeze the were it dribbles out

If you verified your tank was empty and you read full at 30 gallons you have a fuel lever issue.  You can pull the lever unit and test it via a multimeter.

Have some Permatex pipe dope that is fuel rated on hand and some rags on hand to re install.

If adding fuel is that slow i think you have a vent issue as well as a fuel sending unit issue. Impossible to tell without being there to inspect and test

You shouldn't have to pull the sensor out to test unless you want to move the float and see the readings. If you know it is full then you can test it to check the resistance on a multimeter.

This is a 290EC? Are you sure it is the fuel tank you are filling, not being rude but I don't know if this is your first time with the boat? I'm confused about the access hole and not seeing fuel at the "back" ?

I hope he's not fueling the waste tank!   Some potent poop juice mix he'll have there.

no this is my 11 boat  not a rooky!!!   but it's got me stump  why i have 75 gallon tank and i can only put 30 gallons in it.  I took all the hoses off and blew them out  even took the charcoal filter off I even cleaned the wire screen on the port side. you can see gas at the front of tank and none at the stern under the hatch  It just wont let me fill her up.  29' rinker captiva

Oh ok Captiva this is different then I was thinking. Thought it was a 290EC.

Yeah sorry didn't mean to offend but figured I should ask since the east tanks are almost 30 gallon. I actually started to unscrew my waste tank cap my first fill up this year then realized oops 😬

Either the tank is already half full, or the tanks vent is clogged.

Sounds like a blocked baffle plate. Do you have a Milwaukee scope?
  • JOHNNYERWINJOHNNYERWIN Posts: 9
NO BUT I WILL CHECK INTO THAT  THANKS

Usually the baffle plates have holes to prevent sloshing around inside. You probably know this.

Handy wouldnt the fuel go over a blocked baffle? Or are they 100% of the height of the tank? Thought they were only partial height.
