Kohler 5KW EC 72 error code. Where is the Starter Relay located?

Hey Guys, 

I have been running the generator with no problems until last wee.  The genset would run and then stop suddenly and show EC72. I think is the power relay.  Does anyone know where is it located and how to get to it?

    Sure it is not overheating?  Low oil?  Very intolerant of the latter.

    I don't think so, as now it does not even start.  According to other forums, the EC 72 error is the starter relay, but I have no idea to where is located. I already have the relay.  At times, I am not sure the marine generators are worth it... :-)

    Problem fix.  It was the starter relay.  $8 part and running smoothly.

    You actually have to use it to have a problem with it! :)  - I have almost 1100 hours on mine!

    Got my first EC72 fault on Day 1 of a ten-day.  Any suggestions that don't involve ordering parts?

    @LaRea , check all of the wiring and grounds. I read that some people got that fault when a wire was shorted or a ground not making good contact.

    What had happened was:  We left the dock with genny running fine.  Decided to run it on our way down-river to keep ice and cabin cold.  At some point in the first hour, it shut down.  When we reached our destination, I saw the EC72 code, and it would not start. 

    I poked around for a while looking for loose wires, found none.  Luckily, this is the only night we'll be on the hook for this trip.

    I resolved this issue.  It was a blown fuse on the front panel of the generator (F6, Voltage Regulator and Battery Charging Alternator).  

    When the genny died, I gave all of the fuses a visible inspection, and they all looked fine.  Today I checked each one with a multi-meter.  F6 looked normal, but failed continuity.  I replaced it and -- problem gone.

    Indeed.  If it stays fixed, I'm guessing faulty fuse.  If the fuse blows again, I go back to the drawing board.

    where did you get the starter relay and where was it located?  I have the exact same problem.

    When I try to start Gen it makes clicking noises and does nothing and error codes 72 EC72  what is the issue

    @randbo welcome to the forum.  Check the F6 fuse as referenced above.  Also, check the fuse holders and make sure none of them are broken, as described here:
