When I had a 23’ center console I wanted more slip on the trailer bunks to help get it up on the trailer as the trailer was pretty long and yea installing plastic sheets on top of the carpet helped me to get it up fully on the trailer much easier. I used something like this:
I've never used the slip pads but my entire front bow support bunks are covered in that material.
It does make it easier to launch and retrieve vs carpet.
My only issue is that it doesn't last as long as carpet. Mine likes to start tearing at the front edges. My trailer is a 2019, I've already replaced one side and this season im finishing it out with duct tape holding the other side on.

Maybe just the pads would last longer.
