Gear Oil Hose Question

Anyone have any idea what the thing circled in the two pics is?  It's on the port side on the hose that goes rom the gear oil reservoir to the B3 drive.  It spins around so I showed it from both sides.  I originally thought that it was some kind of valve that could be turned off when changing the gear oil but I could not find a way to open or close it.  There isn't one on the starboard side.  You can zoom in to get a closer look.  Thanks.

That is just a connection between the lower unit and the pump- if you were going to pull the motor you would disconnect it. Unfortunately I know this.

Thanks rasbury and Alswagg, makes sense, the port motor was pulled a few years ago, so it must have been installed then.

There must be one somewhere on the stbd side.  Every transom assembly has that fitting.

LaRea, I'll check again next time I'm at my boat.  I looked for about 2 minutes but couldn't find it.  Thanks.

It is there from the factory, not installed if the motor is pulled...
