I was working on the boat today and checked all of my hose clamps, most of them were 1/2 to 1 full turn loose. I also looked at the bottom of the oil pan, a couple of rust spots/bubbles starting. I cleaned them the best I could and painted with Rustoleum. Some of you may remember one of my posts a few years ago when I had to change my oil pan because of rust, it was so bad that it was actually leaking from it. Preventative maintenance!!

    Another easy thing to look at is your fuel cap o-ring. I looked at mine today and it needed to be replaced! The part number is on the bag if anyone wants to order some.

    A surprising amount of water can get past a bad fuel cap O ring - never a good thing.

    I recently had 2 gallons of water filtered out of my starboard tank due to a missing O ring.  I'll be checking them often now.

    Most gas boats just run fuel filters and not water separators.
    so replace o rings or in my case entirand flip up cap

    Also out on my to do list for tomorrow. May as well check water and waste too, not as much of a problem but worth checking anyway.

    I followed @aero3113 on this and replace them every 3 years no matter the condition. Water in the tank is a pain as you know. Check them first before replacing the filler

    Yes, mine literally have no gaskets at all (never knew they had them). The replacements come with a redesigned offset ring that lifts the port face 1/4” off the surface of the transom and has a shape to push water away. Also, new ports will have actual functional gaskets so I won’t need to have 30 gallons of water pumped from my tanks again. Until then, i have fashionable tape covering the ports.

    I remember my dealer making a big deal about checking the O-rings each spring. I lube them up with dielectric grease. Water, waste & fuel caps.

    I was shocked when the boat was in our driveway on the trailer & a rainstorm hit...a phenomenal amount of water was routed down the arch to the boat side - right across the fuel cap. Gallons & gallons.
