Our 270 has two courtesy lights- i replaced one with a nice blue led- should have bought two- i looked on great lakes abd also amazon but not finding a replacement- these are 1/2" dia best guess...also,  my rocker switch for the hatch puked- is that considered a 3 way or two way switch? Will I find one that will fit and be pined the same? I have not pulled the switch for a part number but it is 2006...

    No, they are small round ones...I don't want to put to make a new light work if possible...

    Thanks @mbnarney! I looked at that as well as some of there others. They sell these as being really bright- do i want really bright lights as courtesy? The ones I have/had are pretty "soft" and not hard-on the eyes at night. I sure don't find mush else..I'll order one and check it out, thanks again!

    I did pull the rocker switch for the hatch and get a part number but the replacement does not have the back light... that kind of blows huh?

    So I'm still struggling with this switch. Me and my electrical knowledge sucks. As mentioned, I did find a switch mentioned above. I have not tried it yet but I see some switches are reverse polarity- the one I have i have not tested but even if it works, it is not back lit and it would dive me crazy to see the dash lit up and that switch dark. Is caeling switch out of business? I looked on great lakes skipper. I found DigiKey which looks like they may have bought that company. I've emailed them but have not heard back- any ideas for replacement?

    Looks like 7 prongs,   I wouldn't be ashamed to say that's intimidating @rasbury

    If the replacement switch isn't a direct replacement with the identical pin arrangement it would be a nightmare for most to replace.

    Getting an exact replacement is easy because the switches all use standard pin arrangements and hole sizes.  NewWire sells Carling switch bodies, and they have a big selection of switch covers (lenses) to match whatever you need.

    For a hatch, you need: 
    Momentary (turns off when you release it)
    Dual pole, dual throw (DPDT) on-off-on (button up raises the hatch, down lowers it)

    It'll be one of these two:

    Yes, that is what I have too- thank you for the info. I googled that part number and that led to a partial match from digiKey but, not back lit and not sure if it would even works.

    It is 8 prongs- perhaps not all of them are used. The one I bought has 6 and assume the missing two would be tge back light.

    @larea thanks for the info- the second would appear to be the one- I believe the difference is the back light feature- but- it also suggests another relay of some sort- is that needed? In my searches, in addition to the electric jargon you thru out- was reverse polarity so the hatch motor reverses? Is this part of that switch or perhaps the relay? I'm surprised this company did not come up in my searches.

    I can only see 7 in the picture 

    There's a chance you can make a 6 prong work, losing the backlight but you'll need to be good with a multimeter to find out the prong wiring.  

    Plug and play from a direct fit 8 prong would be much less of a headache.

    Most of the year I don't care for the backlight switches but as fall approaches and the sun goes to bed much we earlier, I don't like having to fumble around for the switch I want to hit.

    Actually it must be as there is not dark spot in the middle where this is.

    Yep, mine are all backlit...this switch offered in like 4 colors. Two being white which i believe i have?

    Well, I ordered the second one as the first one does not appear to be back lit- I did not notice the the second has like 10  plug in blades- now I've bought two switches i can't use. Appears neither of these will work- one is not back lit and I'm not sure why any hatch switch would have all those blades...anybody need one?

    Two for two on this post.the 3rd switch was plug and play- i also ordered the switch with a red light so would be easy to hit it at dark- to bad there is not a switch for the barrel lock on the dang door. I'm going to figure out a better way for that- is that lock for the entry door on just about all yachts? The big boys either don't have a door or it's open or a pocket style...
