Checking for water in gas tank.

Another question:

 

I have a 2008 260ec and during a trip last year left the gas cap off. Dumb! Anyway would like to check for water in the fuel using water detecting paste. There does not appear to be any easy access to the fuel tank where I can lower a wooden rod in to check.  It appears the best access is through the sending unit. I assume if that is the best access I should replace the gasket if I remove it.

 

Thoughts anyone?

    That's sounds like a pain, how much fuel left in your tanks? An additional water seperator could help with your problem. Maybe an additive

    I would just check the water separator and run the tanks low.  Changine the separator is pretty cheap (I do mine every spring after the first tank is ran thru)
