Rinker 280 questions

first question 
I didn't try the 110 power yet but noticed that all circuit breakers work on and off except the microwave breaker. It says off and when I try to flick it back to on it never locks in and goes back to off. I don't think that's normal but if I have to replace it where do I get the breaker from it's a 95 280

second question 
hot water tank is located in the aft cabin and like all heaters it has a pressure relief valve.
it has a normal garden hose type screw on fitting. This fitting has nothing going to it.
in my mind it should have a hose going back to the bilge in case it does go off. This way it sprays hot water into the bilge and not inside the cabin ?

    Hmm not sure about the breaker. It may need power to reset a trip fault. But if it needs to be replaced they're no different than the breakers used in houses so home depot should be able to provide them.

    As for the pressure relief on the hot water tank I agree and I did add a hose to redirect the spray should it every happen.

    You have a bad breaker if it will not reset with power off. I"m not sure what breakers they put in back then, west marine has some,   yes, you shoud add a hose to the pop off valve.

    Ye I will install the hose for sure and run it back to the bilge area.
    i will then test the breaker to see what the deal is.

    Mine doesn't have a hose either. I dont use my water heater all that much tho. I almost never have water in the fresh water holding tank either tho

    So today went and lifted up the mid cabin sump door
    cab someone explain to me what is the metal box with wires doing in there lol?

    I think you are talking about the shower sump. Basically shower drains into there and gets pumped to either grey water tank or via a through hull outside.

    He said the box is metal which would not be a shower sump.  Only thing mine had was the sump and the mid-ship bilge pump.  Curious to see the photo.

    Stodge - boat is a 95 model. Who knows what the shower sump looked like over 20 years ago. Definitely more metal and less plastic components.

    I had a 97 280 Mark.  The sump was the same kind I have in my 2002.  I don't think they've changed much.  And that location is not the most dry.  The drain from the cockpit step into the cabin goes into the bilge where the shower sump is located.  Seems an odd place for anything with wires.

    That's why I thought it was wiring to power the bilge pump or shower sump.  If it was plastic in 97 it would likely be plastic in 95, so unlikely the shower sump.  A picture would help.

    Must be an oldie.  I'd say that's your shower sump.  Mine must have been upgraded since it looked like the ones in the stores now.  You'll want to open it up and clean it out before using the shower.

    That looks like the mid-ship bilge pump, float switch and the inlet for your head next to it.

    So it drains into that and then overflows and gets pumped by bilge or does it get transferred to the poop tank

    Ok so
    shower sump has a separate pump inside then 
    normal bilge pump with a float is just for water getting in from outside or drain by the cabin door ?

    Essentially, yes! There are sometimes more than one bilge pump - a low water and a high water and some boats have them amidship as well as in the engine bay.

    Yes, that's right. The bilge is there to drain any water, but it is a mostly a safety back up in case water starts coming in at that low point.

    The sump allows gunk to settle to the bottom and water to outside.  The gunk can build up and make the pump fail.  So it has to be cleaned now and then.  I've found that using clear soaps and shampoos seems to leave less gunk behind.
