    New bolsa core in place and curing. Tomorrow is glass day.

    As for experience, I did some body work on my 280ZX when I was a teen but mostly educated by you tube. So far, this has been a very eye opening experience with regards to the amount of labor that is really involved with this kind of job. Now I know why these glass guys were quoting thousands to get it done.

    looks professional, I guess the glass will hold it self up with the sticky reson, ya the clean up after is going to be a chore. Hard to do all that with out making a mess. Seems when I do a project it always takes longer than planed.

    Clean up will s**k but it'll give me a reason to really clean every little corner as well as shampoo the carpet. All this so my boys can drag sand in off the beach and mess it up again. But that's why we do all this, isn't it?

    The core was 3/4" and I replaced it with the scored 3/4" balsa. Very light, super easy to work with and absorbs resin like a sponge, turning it from a soft workable material into a super rigid core. I was going to go with a foam material to avoid any possible future rot but the glass supplier told me the balsa is much easier to work with, and if leaks are plugged and the material is installed correctly I should have a good strong deck for a long, long time.

    Daze, I don't know how old your boys are but you a makeing good memories, for them. My boys are 32 and 29, ya they still talk about when they were little, playing on sand bar at the river.

    @randy56 My boys are 7 and 9 and we're out on the boat every possible chance we get. They have their favorite marina's and sand bars. Much better than watching them play video games.

    1st coat of glass is up and setting. Still have to hit it with the roller a few times while it's tacky.  Working against gravity is a real bi*ch.

    Daze, trying to send pic's of matress, it was about 75 inches by 75 inches, came with a mattress cover allready on it. I used the existing pads that were in there as a pattern. then had to cut out where the TV cabinet goes 6 x19.  If Pic's do not come through PM me and I can email. not to savy with this.

    Daze,  bought it a walmart, 6 inches thick, I took mattress cover off and cut it with a new/sharp razor blade, then put the cover back on foam. Yes there was a lot of exesss mattress cover but just tucked it under. Its soft, comfortable ready for sleep or activities. To get it in the cabin you will have to fold it in half and tye a rope or string around it on both ends, to hold it in place then unleash once your in place.

    Thanks @raybo3 Definitely my biggest boat project to date. I'm happy to report that it rained in the last 24 hours and there were no signs of h2o anywhere inside the cabin. Looks like the windshield was the only entry point.

    That's good news. Stopping the leak is more important than fixing the damage (well sort of....lol)

    Should I attempt to seal around the windshield to prevent this?  Silicon caulk?

    You don't have to seal the entire windshield, just the screws that hold it in place.

    @skennelly if you are going to re the screws, I would recommend ordering the gasket kit to replace to old one. It is well worth it.

    I'm not going to fix what doesn't seem to be broke...ie remove windsheild.  Just thought there might be some easier steps to prevent it.

    Wow thats some great work and documentation. I had one hollow spot by my windshield wiper shaft which I resealed quickly.

    I'm not recommending that you remove the windshield at all. All I'm saying is that if you inspect the gasket and seals around the bottom of your windshield and they have either shrunk, cracked, dried out..... It's very simple to replace those gaskets and foam seals. It took me less than 20 minutes for both sides. If you do pull off your gaskets, inspect the screws and find that their loose, missing.... and see signs of water entry, you just remove every other screw, fill holes with 5200, re-install work on other screws.
