I had to get the hair drier out to defrost my kitchen sink water lines this morning. 15 minutes of warm air on the line and the water started to flow.

My brother called me at 3:30am to see if he could use my heat gun to defrost his shower lines. He had to remove plywood sheathing from under/near his shower and lay on the ground(outside) to warm up the pipes. I gave him the heat gun and went back to bed. Lol

@diggin2day1 next time you see him give him a 20% off coupon to Harbor Freight. He can pick up a heat gun for under $15.00. I have this one (in the link) and it works great. I didn’t use it this morning because it gets too hot. Used the hair drier so I could walk away while it was on.

@aero3113 - I’ll be buying a new heat gun because there’s zero chance of my brother giving it back. Lol

I had my water freeze in the sprinkler room my building coming back from new years weekend. Started to slow warm with two heaters and saw the 1 1/2 inch pipes had started leaking at the sweat joints. Main valve frozen so could not turn off. Went to shut off valve to rpz and pipe blew off and I was in a 30 degree shower trying to shut it off. Had to call village but b box was frozen also so heated up the main valve to shut off. Had to have it all repiped and rebuilt the rpz valve, replacing a couple valves for sprinkler system at a cost of $7-8k. New garage door bent a track which cost me an additional $1100. Total so far over $11k so I need a smaller boat!! Walking back and forth in soaking wet cloths in -12 degrees for over 2 hours, next day to Vail for some skiing in no snow... Come on boat season

We have a 13 pound Golden Doodle and she can't make it more than a few blocks when it gets this cold.  The concrete hurts her paws when it's this cold.  So she gets carried most of the way back.  It's back in the 30s today and I'm looking forward to her walking the whole way.

I'm thinking my boat is very happy with me this winter. With a solid deep freeze the indoor heated storage is a very wise investment for me.

Happy New Years everyone! Launch is t-minus 14 weeks away. >:)

Here's some crazy for you.  I spent the past week in Gothenburg Sweden, which is 1400 miles farther north than DC, but it was actually 15° warmer than DC!  Then, when I got back to DC yesterday, it was a humid 70° and the taxi was running the air conditioner.  By tonight, we'll have wind-chill temps of 4°.  Whisky-tango-foxtrot.
