You guys are killing me on this pump...I just ordered mine for 65 total with tax...yes 2x these others...I can put this on the swim platform, throw a hose in the bilge and pump 800 gallons per hour with it....
I'm guessing if the boat is sinking that no one is going to argue with me with lending a hand. Besides, I don't have to swim faster than the alligators, just faster than who ever is with me. And I bet this thing is easier or at least the same as these other pump models.
It looks like an awesome pump. Mine is some 10 years old, the cheap china ones probably wouldn't last more than a year or two before the seals gave.
I can't tell you what mine cost...it came with a 100 dollar sailboat i bought to part out. I have never used it in any of my big boats, only a little racing sailboat that took in water slowly from the bailers.
I take it with me on kayak trips because someone always flips and it takes just a few minutes of pumping to get all the water out rather than paddling all the way back to shore. Its usally one of the kids. Its really good when they put the discharge hose into the side of one of the other kids kayaks and start pumping.
as I recall from my Boy Scout days we were taught how to toss a canoe over our head somehow or another and then bail out the rest of the water....but that was a long time ago! Pretty cheap insurance and my perceived sinking really gave me a scare!
The sit inside kayaks dont really bail out fully, half full of water they sit lower in the water and its easier to climb in. Pump out once youre safely in. I dont give my kid or nephews any fishing gear im going to miss if it sinks.
Got my pump today...have to get some bielge hose for it..cheapest I've seen is Lowe's of all places...then back to the ramp to check out my leak...at least I have a back up now so more confident ...that was a bit scary...
Yes, well that is a pump but not for the bielge..got mine...got 8' of bielge hose from ace hardware for 2 bucks a foot...tried it out on the pool to make sure the hose did not colaspse...all good. So was getting the boat ready to go back to storage and did have some water in the bielge...not a lot but some. Hit the pumps and zip...look at the breakers by the battery switch and both mid and rear breakers are tripped. Nothing has been altered with the wiring...and since I have two breakers, assume independent wiring? What's up with this?
I guess it could be the floats also? Not sure what that connection looks like that trips the pumps but wondering if that is where I should start.... The pumps are the original for the boat 2005...the midship one I would not imagine ever has cycled on...the one in the bilge for sure has been used but was lift kept in it's salt water life and my use has 99% been fresh water...couple of weeks tops spent in salt. Just seems odd they would both go at the same time....they are on different circuits (?) but would both turn on when you hit the manual switch (?) . I have not done anything on wiring...I guess I would start with the one in the bilge and see if that does not solve the problem....hmmm....
How handy are you with a multi meter or test light? I can go over how to test the flosts and bilge pumps. Some can be done in the boat, some are easier out of the boat
