Went to pull anchor and pulled this up. South Carolina wins a billion some odd dollar law suit against a power plant that puts chemicals in the water system for decades.  We can eat one fish a month.  That law suit pays for stuff like this to be put in our lake. I know it's DNR installed and not Joe blow fisherman because its stainless wire.  Any fisherman knows the Christmas tree will long be rotted before cheap metal banding rusts away in freshwater. Only a government agency would waste money on stainless banding .

People put them under their docks all the time but this was in the back of a deep cove far from any docks or homes.

Anchored out Friday night in a small bay. The wind was supposed to change direction overnight so I set my stern anchor accordingly. 

Woke up around 3am and the bow anchor had dragged a bit, causing us to be broadside to the waves due to the stern anchor holding. No good. I put a buoy on the stern anchor and let it go until morning. Wake up at 8am and while enjoying my coffee I see that another boater is leaving the cove and my stern anchor is gone! Who steals an anchor?!

It was! And a brand new float on it too! I have now accepted that stern anchors are an annual purchase for me.
