heads are not repairable due the amount of material missing. Inside the port is just as bad. He found brand new ones for $500 each, I had him order 4 even though he has not seen the port motor. I think they are just as bad. So new heads. The block is good and will recieve main bearing, rod bearing, pistons and rings. He said leave the cam alone and stay at 9 to 1 compression. If I go for more power I would be opening a can for worms. He is the motor man so I will as he suggested. Quote is $3000. Per motor so I'm happy with that.
3 per engine sounds pretty good 👍. Why is there so much material missing from the heads, is that just all corrosion and after the blasted it that's what was left?

Yes 17 years the salt ate it away. The glass bead sure makes thing look nice. Who knows how the pervious owners took care of manifolds.
It is just amazing to see what saltwater does to you guys
Don’t affect RVs. 👅👅
Sure it does depending on where you live. Road salts and ocean salts if you live near the ocean or live in a cold climate area................ Just say'n

Hooked up an old set of Rinker gauges to the volvo harness. Now I can run the motors on the pallets when I get then back for the machine shop. Even figured out the harness for the key it passes around the the gauges now I will have oil, temp and voltage.
1st motor back from the machine shop. I'll get it together in the next 2 weekends. Then strip down the other one and send it. Thinking if I get the 2nd one back by the end of February beginning of March should be on track for spring.
If you look at the 3rd pic you can see the exhaust port all rusted up. I have read that the big blocks reverbate and draw the exiting water back to the port. You rev the motor up a little (1100rpm) then shut down. Mercuiser addressed this problem with a different riser then Volvopenta.also the gasket is designed to catch water.
