Id pickle it with diesel as its about the cheapest.

If you are in fresh water and clean it out quickly you should be ok. Even with fresh water, it doesn't take long for things to start rusting.

So have you been able to see it out of the water? Is the bellows damaged? I'd thing it would have to be about gone or your pumps would have kept up with it? Any work done on the motor recently? I thought I was sinking but was my fault. I pulled my motor to re seal the transom and when I put the motor back in i did not have a hose tight- could not see the leak. Scared the crap out of me.

The shift cable boot ripped

Pulled the spark plugs cauberator and altenator evacuated ALL the water filled with oil and diesel and cranked IT over a few times i think IT can be saved

They totaled the boat? Wow. They did not hot you for maintenance on tge shift boot/bellows? From what you posted so far, sounds like you are a lucky guy!

Progressive I had a receipt from the marina for all that stuff replaced 3 years ago I’m going to look at the exact same boat tomorrow

If it was replaced 3 years ago, why did it fail? A shift boot would be really hard to hit.

I had a 2 year old Bayliner 285 sink at the dock due waiting to be pulled end of season. Muskrat chewed several boots including shift cable boot.
