2016 Chesapeake Rinkervous!

Well, with such a frigid weekend coming up, what a better time to put some dates out there for the Annual Chesapeake Rinkervous.  What?  You ask what it is??  you haven't been to any of the last 10 years???  This is a good time to start!  This year's theme is Pirates!  So bring all your pirate gear, music, drinks, games and whatever you else you may have (even the booty)!  Adults, kids, dogs, we all have a great time.  (take a look at previous year's pictures)

The dates...it's gonna be July 15-17.  I'm gonna try again to get there that Thursday on the 14th.  It will be at the favorite place of Still Pond.  We all love to back up to the nice sandy fresh water beach and get the food and drinks going around while wading in waste high water behind the boats.

Can't wait to see everyone!!!  & you think last year's games were crazy??  This year's will have ye walkin' the plank!

Just thought I'd bump this back up.  Dream'inn about that perfect 85 degree day in July, 15 or so Rinkers tied up....all enjoying each others company, great music, great drinks, and can't forget about the admirals all working some good food!  & those dinghy sunset rides!

Thanks, needed that bump!  The time is definitely getting closer!  2 months away now!  I know there are a few new members ( @ChesapeakeChiller @Bayrunner ) in the northern half of the Chesapeake that said they may make it (CC, you could follow some of us up if you'd like).  Let me start a list....So, who's new that's thinking about coming?  I know the standard dozen or so that usually come are still planning on it (at least, most have said they'd make it), but it's always nice to get 3 or 4 new ones each year!  @dirtythirty , we need another unique boat this year!  how bout coming down??  You could follow another 400 that is coming down from longport NJ.

We plan to go, I should have my boat back in the water for the second time this year hopefully in time for the Blue Angels on the 25th this month. I will probably try to follow you out for Rinkervous if we can make the timing work. Thank you for offering

Dream_Inn :  I love to join. we have a Georgetown trip scheduled for the 4th of July weekend, so, it may not be a big issue to swing back down the following week.  I'll keep you posted !  If you are in the neighborhood over the 4th, please feel free to drop in !

Bayrunner, as the probie, you will be responsible for lining-up the drinks, entertainment, prizes from Rinker and waxing all of the boats tied-up to DI the next morning after the festivities.

Have a great time, next year will be better as a new probie will attend....you hope!

Bayrunner, it's all pretty informal.  We'll be all the way back near the beach area.  Just pull in close enough and look for some Rinkers.  Depending on when you come, we'll either be in the water behind the boats or probably somewhere on the boats.  Just give the horn a sound if nobody gets on the bow to wave you in.  We'll have you get close enough and direct you to one side or the other.  The key is the boat coming in always has a line on the bow and one on the stern.  The boat you are tying up to always has the fenders out.  At some point we'll have you cut the engines and a few of us in the water will walk your boat the rest of the way in.  It's called valet service.  (yeah, you'll pay for it later ...jk) 

Oh, and if you do too much singing you may have to walk the plank!  (yeah, it's pirates theme)

DirtyThirty, it will be great meeting you and admiring that beautiful ride!  You'll be in great company with a couple other diesels as well (Yes, I spelled it right Handy!)

MT brought up a good point.  Not sure if I'll get any goodies this year from Rinker.  I'd sure like to know who to contact for some of the promo goodies cause I guarantee for what they hand out is well worth it for the expense of the Rinkers that are there (& all the admirers there wishing they had a Rinker - we have a few that aren't Rinkers that have been tying with us for years now, we always have a good time with them saying we are going to put "Rinker" taped over their boats - Be prepared @ChesapeakeChiller )

I'm hearing the SeaRay will be back this year (no, it's not a boat, but an amphibious aircraft - just look at pics from 2014 Rinker Rendezvous).  He is good buddies with @MissKriss . 

Also want to ping @Seadogs @Summerx @Weber & of course @Riverside (aka Crazy Dave!!)  Just want to make sure you guys all have it on the calendar as well!!

@Dream_Inn LOL we will be prepared (maybe bring a cannon) you mentioned valet service, how shallow do you raft up at its lowest point? Curious as I have I/B's 3FT draft min.

CC, we'll put you on the deeper end of the raft-up.  One side is always a bit deeper and we usually have one or two IBs each year.  The valet service is just so you don't stir the sand and it just makes it easier for the captain (lots of anchor lines are out as well).

It's funny you mention the cannon...(we are preparing a dinghy for the Rock Hall Pirates & Wenches this year and are planning to test the cannon at the Rinkervous).

I sure can't wait!!  The one 420 I knew that was going (& came last year) isn't going to be able to make it.   So we need another one!  Come on Dirty!!

Dream-Inn, I don't know if I'll make it I have a cracked head or block and will not know for another week.  If it's the head I may get the boat back but not in time for the event.

Just a couple days away now!  I changed out an exhaust hose last night on my generator.  I noticed over the weekend it had a slight drip going.  Sure was more of a pain than it should've been.

I confirmed last night that the seaplane should be making it back again this year!  Along with Patrick and family from NJ!  So, if anyone else is coming down from NJ and wants to follow, there'd be a 400 to tuck behind.

@ChesapeakeChiller , if you want to follow someone up on Friday, just let me know.  I know a couple coming up in the morning and then a couple in the evening.  We'll plan on keeping a deeper spot open for you!

My wife and I are planning to attend,  we probably won't get there till after dark on Friday evening,  does anyone Monitor a specific Channel For help getting in and finding everyone?

We'll be pretty easy to find once you turn the corner into Still Pond.  We sometimes monitor 72, but don't count on it.  Better off getting a bit closer and honk the horn a little.

Weather is looking absolutely perfect!  Even the wave conditions for tomorrow night and Friday are crazy perfect!!!

I'm hearing about 15 boats coming!  (oh, and more than half have pirate costumes!)

@bayrunner , any news yet??

@LaRea , if you had any inkling to maybe make it, it's gonna be almost smooth as glass!  Perfect time to try to get on up to the northern part of the bay and see the sandy bottoms!
